Synchronized Traction Winch – TimberMAX T8

The definitive traction-assist solution for high-performance steep-slope logging.
The TimberMAX T8 is the ultimate traction-assist winch for operations on steep gradients, offering a 80 kN pulling force and unprecedented technological integration. This robust and powerful system allows conventional machinery to operate with total safety and minimal soil disturbance on terrains with inclines between 35% and 70%. Thanks to its compact design and integrated spooling system, the T8 transforms standard excavators into high-performance forestry equipment.

Large description

Engineering and Design: Forestry-First Robustness.
The TimberMAX T8 represents “forestry-first engineering” at its peak. Its structure is built for an extended service life, incorporating a compact spooling system with an integrated pressure roller that guarantees perfect cable winding. This design not only reduces installation costs but also significantly extends cable life by preventing premature wear caused by improper positioning. Additionally, this model comes standard with a heavy-duty support leg to anchor into the ground, providing superior stability during high-tension pulling operations.

Power and Performance:
Efficient Assisted Traction.
The T8’s performance is driven by a heavy-duty transmission featuring a REXROTH planetary gearbox and a variable displacement axial piston hydraulic motor. This configuration allows for high torque delivery or speeds of up to 10 km/h, dynamically adapting to the workload. Utilizing traction assistance enables year-round operations, even in snowy conditions or after heavy rainfall, by drastically reducing erosion and soil disturbance.

Control and Safety:
The iWinch® Brain.
Operational quality is guaranteed by the iWinch® control system, which enables constant two-way communication between the winch and the machine on the slope. The operator monitors all critical information on a 12-inch screen: cable tension, slope gradient, and carrier alarms (fuel, temperature, pressure). The system allows for 3 tension presets (uphill, downhill, or static) and features a drum-mounted camera to visually confirm correct spooling at all times.

Fleet Compatibility:
The TimberMAX T8 stands out for its versatility, featuring Quick Attach systems that allow a road-building excavator to be converted into a traction-assist unit in approximately 15 minutes.

  • Recommended Base Machines: Excavators between 16 and 25 tons.
  • Hydraulic Requirements: Minimum flow of 200 l/min and 310 bar pressure.
  • Compatible Systems: Can assist harvesters, forwarders, or skidders.

FAQ (Frequently Asked Questions)

1. What maintenance does the T8 cable require? Thanks to the integrated spooling device and the tension roller, the cable remains under tension and correctly positioned at all times, minimizing wear. Periodic visual inspection via the drum camera is recommended.

2. Is it difficult to install on a conventional excavator?
No, the system is designed to require limited modifications to the carrier. Using a quick-attach bracket allows for switching between the winch and a bucket in about 15 minutes.

3. How do I know if the terrain will support the machine without the cable?
The iWinch system includes a Slope Test Mode. This mode allows the operator to reduce cable tension to zero to check if the machine can hold itself before starting assisted operations.

4. What happens if the communication signal is lost?
The iWinch system features signal loss alarms and safety redundancies to ensure the operator always works in a controlled and safe environment.

5. Is technical training included with the purchase?
Yes, every TimberMAX T8 delivery includes 1 day of technical training for operators, ensuring they can fully utilize the iWinch functions and operate with total safety.
