Its massive, wide chassis (1775 mm) is engineered to withstand the torsional forces of large excavators and tracked machines. Unlike lighter heads, its geometry allows for the safe handling of trees with a felling diameter of up to 860 mm, ensuring a long service life even during intensive 24-hour shifts.

Feeding and Performance: 4-Roller Power The great innovation of the AFM 75 TS is its feeding unit: 4 hydraulic motors driving 4 rollers. This “quad” configuration ensures the stem remains perfectly centered and gripped, maximizing the transmission of its 35 kN force. With a speed of 5.5 m/s, it can move heavy and crooked logs without losing grip—vital when working with hard hardwoods or heavy-limbed trees.

Debarking and Processing Specialist: This head is a beast for eucalyptus debarking. The combination of 4 aggressive rollers and a versatile knife set (2 to 5 units) allows for stripping even the toughest bark from large stems (optimal 40-60 cm). Its wide rear opening of 880 mm facilitates whole-tree handling during processing operations.

1. What does the 4-roller configuration mean for the AFM 75 TS? Unlike 3-roller models, the 4-motor, 4-roller system provides superior, symmetrical grip. This reduces slippage on heavy or wet logs and distributes pressure more evenly across the stem, improving both debarking and feeding performance.  

2. Can I mount it on a 20-ton excavator? No, it is not recommended. Weighing 2900 kg, this head would destabilize a 20-ton machine. It is specifically designed for the 25 to 35-ton range to ensure safety and proper hydraulic performance.

3. Is it suitable for Eucalyptus? Yes, the manufacturer clearly specifies “Eucalyptus-debarking” as a key operation. Its 35 kN force and 4-roller system make it extremely effective for cleaning large-diameter eucalyptus that requires significant traction power.

4. What type of cutting does it perform? It is a final felling (Clearcutting) head. While it can process timber, its size and weight make it unsuitable for delicate thinning; it is a tool for mass production and clearfelling.

5. What is its opening capacity? It has a massive opening capability. The rear knives open up to 880 mm and the rollers up to 850 mm. This allows it to easily grasp large trees from the base.
