Disc feller head – FPM TRIM 380

Speed and efficiency in continuous felling.
The TRIM 380 is a continuous rotation disc feller head designed for maximum productivity in biomass harvesting. Weighing 1,900 kg and featuring a 380 mm cutting capacity, this tool delivers the highest yields on the market while maintaining extremely low stump heights. To ensure uninterrupted operation, the excavator’s hydraulic system must be properly calibrated. The TRIM 380 is optimized for use with our FPM TR130SR, allowing for seamless restarts at any stage of the work cycle.

Large description

Engineering:

Built for the forest High Inertia and Robust Design: Under the “Exclusive Forestry Design” seal, the TRIM 380 is built to withstand the harshest conditions. Its 1,900 kg structure protects vital hydraulic components, offering superior durability when handling dense wood. Unlike conventional shears, its continuous rotation disc system harnesses kinetic energy, reducing stress on the base machine during the cut.

Performance and Cutting Speed

This head is a powerhouse of efficiency. It requires a moderate hydraulic flow of 120–130 l/min, making it compatible with a wide range of mid-sized excavators. It is perfectly tuned and optimized for mounting on the FPM TR130SR. Its 360° rotation (non-continuous) provides excellent maneuverability for both felling and organized piling on the ground.

Cut Quality and Finish

The TRIM 380 does more than just fell; it manages the terrain. It allows for a minimum cutting height of just 75 mm from the ground, ensuring flush stumps that facilitate the subsequent movement of other machinery. It can process everything from 50 mm brush to 350 mm logs, providing a clean disc cut that promotes natural regrowth.

Fleet Compatibility
The TRIM 380 is the ideal attachment for forestry excavators and processors looking to diversify into biomass production.

  • Recommended Base Machines: 15 to 18-ton excavators (FPM TR130SR).
  • Compatibility: Units equipped with hammer lines and low-flow lines.
  • Hydraulic Requirements: 120 – 130 l/min oil flow at 350 bar working pressure.

FAQ (Frequently Asked Questions)

1. What is the advantage of the continuous rotation disc over a shear? The primary advantage is operational speed and throughput. The disc maintains inertia, allowing it to cut multiple small stems or medium trees fluidly without stopping, multiplying productivity in biomass operations.

2. What is the actual maximum cutting capacity? The TRIM 380 is certified to cut logs up to 380 mm in diameter, maintaining high efficiency even in small diameters starting from 50 mm.

3. What maintenance does the disc require? The disc system is robust with fewer exposed moving parts than a chainsaw bar. Maintenance focuses on the disc teeth (which are typically rotatable or replaceable) and general equipment greasing.

4. Do I need a very large excavator to move it? With a weight of 1,900 kg, a base machine of at least 16–18 tons (such as the FPM TR130SR) is recommended to ensure stability and safety at maximum reach.

5. Can it leave flush stumps? Yes, its design allows the disc to get extremely close to the soil, achieving a 75 mm cutting height, which is ideal for leaving a clean, navigable site.
