Harvester Head – LOGSET TH65

The ultimate tool: Total versatility for all forest types
The Logset TH65 is the most versatile harvesting head in the range, designed to blur the lines between thinning operations and final felling. With a cutting capacity of up to 720 mm and an optimized weight of 1150 kg, it dominates in both softwoods and hardwoods, offering exceptional productivity in medium to large stems. It is the safe investment for contractors needing a single head capable of adapting to any contract, from selective thinning to demanding regeneration harvesting.

Large description

Synchronized 4-Motor Feeding: The TH65 holds nothing back when it comes to traction. It features a 3-roller feeding system driven by 4 high-torque hydraulic motors (two in the arms and two in the chassis). This configuration ensures an unshakeable grip and a feeding speed of up to 6.0 m/s, allowing for the processing of heavy trees or difficult bark without slipping.

Superior Delimbing Quality:
The key to its performance lies in its geometry. Equipped with 4 movable knives and 1 static knife (plus an adjustable upper knife), the TH65 guarantees clean delimbing from stump to top. The long front knives mounted on a parallelogram linkage automatically center the tree in the head, facilitating work even with the crooked stems often found in hardwoods.

Reliable Cutting and Measuring:
It integrates the SuperCut 100 saw unit with automatic chain tensioning, capable of felling diameters of 720 mm with an 820 mm bar. The TOC-MD 2 measuring system, coupled with a hydraulic measuring wheel that maintains constant pressure, ensures that every cut log meets the industry’s millimeter-specific specifications.

Fleet Compatibility and Configuration

The ideal companion for medium-to-large harvesters, optimizing the power-to-weight ratio.

  • Recommended Base Machines: Wheeled (Harvesters): 14 – 18 tons (Perfect match for Logset 8H GT). Tracked (Excavators): 16 – 20 tons.
  • Versatility: Its contained weight (1150 kg) allows it to be mounted on long-reach cranes, increasing the working radius without destabilizing the base machine.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

1. What traction power does the feeding system offer? The TH65 is equipped with a synchronized 3-roller system powered by 4 hydraulic motors. This configuration ensures maximum traction and constant grip, allowing heavy or heavily branched trees to be processed at a speed of 6 m/s without the stem slipping.

2. Can it process trees over 60 cm?
Technically, its saw unit cuts up to 720 mm. However, its productivity is “optimal” in the 10 to 45 cm range. It can fell and process occasional large trees without issues, but for continuous large timber, the TH75 would be faster.

3. Which machines are compatible?
It is designed for wheeled harvesters in the 14-18 ton class (like the Logset 8H GT) and excavators from 16 to 20 tons. It requires a flow rate of 300 l/min to operate at full capacity.

4. Is it suitable for hard and crooked wood?
Yes, this is one of its strong points. The chassis design with a large tilt angle and long front knives allows it to handle curved stems with much greater ease than rigid-design heads.

5. What feed roller options are available?
Logset offers a wide range of rollers (metal spiked, debarking, rubber, etc.) to adapt to different bark types. Additionally, the rollers feature standard safety guards to prevent damage in rocky terrain.
