Versatility and power in a compact design
The AFM 55 defines versatility. It is an agile head (1,090 kg) yet offers ample power (26 kN) to manage everything from late thinnings to final felling of medium-sized stems. Designed for 12-18 ton excavators and medium harvesters, it offers unstoppable feeding thanks to its 4 motors and 3 rollers, ensuring consistent production even in difficult timber.
Engineering built for the forest: Forget about choosing between agility and power. The AFM 55 features a reinforced structure that shields hydraulic components, minimizing downtime and ensuring profitability in demanding environments.
Unstoppable feeding (4 motors): Where others slip, the AFM 55 grips. Its system of 3 rollers and 4 motors generates 26 kN of force, ensuring consistent advancement (up to 5.5 m/s) even with heavy branches or crooked stems.
Superior log quality: Designed for the pulp and sawmill industry. Its 6 delimbing knives and automatic centering system protect valuable timber, reducing friction and ensuring exact measurement compatible with the most modern control systems.
Fleet Compatibility.

Frequently Asked Questions about the AFM 55
1. On what type of base machines can I mount the AFM 55? This head is extremely versatile. We have designed it to work optimally on 12 to 18-ton excavators and medium-sized wheeled harvesters. The critical requirement is a flow rate of 250 l/min. If you have doubts about your model (CAT, Volvo, Hitachi…), we can analyze your machine and perform the necessary engineering to ensure a perfect installation.
2. Is the AFM 55 effective for processing heavy-branched timber or eucalyptus? Yes. Unlike basic models, its 4 motors and 26 kN of force guarantee constant traction without stalling, even during eucalyptus debarking or on difficult stems.
3. Which measuring systems is it compatible with? It works with market standards: Motomit, Dasa, Technion, etc. It integrates with your current system to ensure precise bucking without changing your workflow.
4. Is maintenance complicated? No. It is designed with direct access to grease points and hoses. Furthermore, at Forest Pioneer, we dispatch spare parts within 24 hours to ensure your machine never stops.
5. Is it only for thinnings or also for final felling? It is for both. It is a perfect hybrid: light enough (1,090 kg) to move in thinnings, yet powerful enough for final felling of diameters up to 50-60 cm.
