Wood splitting tongs – Woodcracker W1000

The Woodcracker W1000 is a powerful wood splitting tool designed to process large-diameter logs with minimal effort using 10 to 18-ton excavators.
With a weight of 580 kg and a 26-ton splitting force, this Hardox® steel attachment is the key to optimizing natural wood seasoning and improving biomass quality in professional forestry operations.

Large description

Engineering and Design: Hardox® Durability for the Woods.
Following the “engineering for the woods” philosophy, the Woodcracker W1000 is manufactured entirely from high-strength Hardox® steel. To ensure extreme durability against corrosion in harsh environments, it features a KTL (cathodic dip-priming) treatment and powder coating. Its premium pin bearings ensure smooth, low-maintenance operation, allowing for a long service life under the most demanding conditions.

Performance and Feed: Intelligent Power with Autospeed.
The W1000 stands out for its impressive 1,040 mm opening, which allows for strategic processing of oversized timber. It features the optional Autospeed system—an intelligent hydraulic control that significantly enhances splitting performance by optimizing pressure cycles based on the wood’s resistance. Its high-strength blade penetrates with ease, preparing the material for an agile and efficient supply to chippers.

Biomass Quality and Versatility:
Professional Multi-functionality.
Pre-splitting with the W1000 is not just a logistical step; it enables natural wood seasoning (drying) that elevates energy yield and the quality of the final biomass. In addition to its primary function, the robust design of the tongs allows them to be used as a conventional loading gripper to handle and organize logs on-site, eliminating the need to switch attachments and maximizing fleet profitability.

Fleet Compatibility

This attachment is engineered to enhance the productivity of medium-to-heavy duty carriers.

  • Base Machine: Crawler excavators, wheeled excavators, and standard construction machinery.
  • Carrier Weight: Recommended for vehicles between 10 and 18 tons.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

1. What maximum wood diameter can the W1000 process? The 1,040 mm opening determines the size of the final split piece but does not limit the maximum log diameter that can be processed. It can make multiple passes on logs of any thickness until they are fully divided.

2. How does using these splitting tongs improve biomass?
Pre-splitting exposes the interior of the log to the air, facilitating a much faster natural seasoning process. This reduces moisture, increases the calorific value of the chips, and elevates the final energy yield.

3. Can the W1000 be used for loading wood?
Yes, it is a multi-functional tool. Thanks to its robust design and closure geometry, it functions perfectly as a loading gripper to handle and sort logs in the woods.

4. What maintenance does the Hardox® steel blade require?
Due to the use of high-strength Hardox® steel, wear is minimal. Maintenance focuses on periodic visual inspections and greasing the premium bearings to ensure smooth movement.

5. Is it compatible with hydraulic rotators?
Absolutely. Optionally, it can be equipped with an infinite rotator, allowing for much more flexible application, attacking the log from any angle with total precision.
