Felling Head – Quadco 18C

High-speed accumulation with maximum leverage
The Quadco 18C is an accumulating felling head designed to maximize leverage on tall timber thanks to its extended tower design. Featuring linked arm geometry for faster accumulation and a cutting capacity of 457 mm (18″), it is a high-efficiency tool. Its operating weight, ranging from 2,141 kg to 2,263 kg, ensures stability and power for intensive operations.

Large description

Engineering & Design:
Tall Tower and Durability The 18C model stands out with engineering focused on controlling large stems. The C-Series models allow for better leverage when handling tall timber thanks to an elongated tower, ensuring superior stability. The structure benefits from contoured cast steel arms, which are stronger and more durable, designed to offer maximum support during accumulation and withstand daily impacts in the forest.

Accumulation & Performance:
High-Speed Bunching Speed is the key to this model. Equipped with linked arm geometry, the 18C allows for faster stem accumulation. Its cutting system is powered by a high-reliability disc drive, reaching a rated speed of 1,350 rpm for clean and fast cuts in every cycle. Additionally, the disc is guided by easily adjustable bearings, simplifying field maintenance and extending equipment life.

Felling Quality & Versatility
With a maximum throat opening of 762 mm and an accumulation area of 0.28 m², this head is ideal for thinnings and final felling of medium diameters. It can be configured with one-piece or segmented discs, adapting perfectly to terrain abrasiveness and the type of wood encountered.

Fleet Compatibility

This head is designed for carriers requiring an optimal balance between accumulation capacity and contained weight.

  • Base Machines: Feller Bunchers and forestry excavators compatible with the load.
  • Rotation: Available with 40° or 360° (medium torque) rotation, adapting to wheeled or tracked bases.
  • Hydraulic System: Efficient configuration of individual cylinders for grab and accumulation arms.

FAQ (Frequently Asked Questions) – Quadco 18C

1. What is the main advantage of the Quadco C-Series? The major asset is the tall tower design, which offers better leverage. This allows for handling tall and heavy wood with increased control.

2. What is the accumulation capacity of the 18C?
It features an accumulation area of 0.28 m², allowing operators to bunch multiple small or medium stems before dumping, thus optimizing the feller buncher’s cycles.

3. What maintenance does the disc system require?
The system is designed to be ultra-reliable and features easily adjustable bearings, significantly reducing technical downtime in the forest.

4. Is it compatible with fixed or rotatable tooth discs?
The 18C accepts both one-piece and segmented discs, allowing you to choose the tooth configuration (18 total) best suited to your soil’s abrasiveness.

5. What is the difference between 40° and 360° rotation?
The 360° rotation offers total versatility for positioning the head without moving the machine (ideal for selective thinnings), while the 40° option is lighter and simpler, often used for clear-cuts.FAQ (Frequently Asked Questions) – Quadco 18C
