Harvester Head – LOGSET TH85

The harvesting colossus: Maximum performance for large diameter timber
The Logset TH85 is a forestry production beast, designed to dominate large-scale final felling and process the biggest trees in the forest. With a cutting capacity of up to 900 mm and a weight of 2,100 kg, this head is built to work in tune with the most powerful harvesters on the market, such as the Logset 12H GTE. It is the ultimate tool for contractors facing massive volumes of timber and logs that challenge any other equipment.

Large description

Extreme Feeding Power: To move multi-ton trees, the TH85 employs a 3-roller feeding system driven by 4 high-displacement hydraulic motors (940 cc on arms, 470 cc on chassis). This configuration generates immense torque, allowing it to drag giant stems and thick branches without hesitation, even in adverse conditions.

Heavy-Duty Structure and Cutting:
Its reinforced chassis houses oversized components, such as shafts and bearings, designed to withstand the continuous impact of heavy timber. The SuperCut 150 saw unit with a 1000 mm bar is capable of felling trees up to 90 cm in diameter. Additionally, all knives are manufactured with special wear-resistant steel to maintain their edge for longer.

Synchronization and Precision:
Despite its size, the TH85 is surprisingly agile thanks to its synchronized feeding circuit. Geometric reaction bars in the feed arms automatically center the tree, ensuring that the TOC-MD 2 system measurement is precise, thus optimizing the value of every cut log.

Fleet Compatibility and Configuration

The indispensable partner for heavy-class forestry machinery.

Recommended Base Machines:

  • Wheeled (Harvesters): 23 – 28 tons (Logset 12H GTE Hybrid).
  • Tracked (Excavators): 26 – 32 tons.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

1. Is the TH85 the largest head from Logset? It is the second largest, surpassed only by the TH95. However, the TH85 is the most balanced for high-production final felling in the region, handling trees up to 90 cm with surprising agility for its size.

2. What is the difference between SuperCut 100 and SuperCut 150?
The SuperCut 150 unit is more powerful and robust, designed for longer guide bars (up to 1 meter) and larger pitch chains (.404″ or 3/4″), which are necessary to cut trunks nearly a meter in diameter without jamming.

3. What machine do I need to move this head?
Due to its 2.1-ton weight, you need a very stable base. On wheels, the Logset 12H is ideal. If using an excavator, look for models in the 30-ton class to guarantee stability with the boom extended.

4. Is it slow due to its size?
Its feeding speed is 4.2 m/s. Although lower than that of small heads (6 m/s), it is the optimal speed for large-diameter wood, where tractive force is more important than pure speed for effective delimbing.

5. What customization options does it have?
You can equip it with stump treatment, color marking, and different types of feed rollers depending on the bark. It also allows for knife pressure adjustment from the cabin to adapt to different species.
