Felling Head – Quadco 24C

High-speed accumulation with maximum leverage for heavy timber
The Quadco 24C is a high-performance felling head designed to dominate tall and heavy timber thanks to its extended tower that maximizes leverage. With an impressive 610 mm (24″) cutting capacity and a massive 0.54 m² accumulation area, this model enables faster and more productive work cycles. Its robust structure, with operating weights exceeding 3,000 kg, makes it the ideal tool for large-tonnage carriers in demanding logging operations.

Large description

Engineering & Design:
Extended Tower & Durability The Quadco C-Series is defined by superior handling capacity. The 24C model incorporates an extended tower that provides exceptional leverage, facilitating directional control of tall, heavy stems. The construction features stronger and more durable cast arms, specifically contoured to offer maximum support during accumulation and withstand structural fatigue in intensive operations.

Feeding & Performance:
Speed and Power Designed for efficiency, the 24C features arm geometry that allows for faster accumulation (bunching). The heart of the system is its ultra-reliable disc drive, capable of reaching a rated speed of 1,075 rpm, ensuring aggressive and clean cuts. Additionally, the bearing system is easily adjustable, simplifying critical field maintenance and ensuring the head’s longevity.

Accumulation Capacity & Versatility
This head is a true workhorse. With a maximum throat opening of 1,321 mm and a tooth opening of 1,092 mm, the 24C facilitates the intake of multiple logs. Its 0.54 m² accumulation area is significantly large, allowing for the bunching of high volumes of wood before dumping, which reduces base machine movements and skyrockets productivity.

Fleet Compatibility
The Quadco 24C is a heavy implement intended for high-power forestry machines (Large tracked Feller Bunchers).

Base Machines: High-capacity feller bunchers (30+ ton class suggested due to head weight).

Rotation:

  • 40° Rotation (High Torque): For standard felling applications.
  • 360° Rotation (High Torque): For maximum maneuverability and selectivity.
  • Hydraulics: Individual cylinders for grab and accumulation arms, requiring high flow to maintain disc speed.

FAQ (Frequently Asked Questions)

1. What differentiates the 24C model from other felling heads?
Its distinctive feature is the extended tower, which offers superior leverage for controlling very tall trees, combined with a massive 0.54 m² accumulation area.

2. What type of maintenance do the arms require?
The arms are made of cast steel (cast arms) and are designed to be extremely durable. Main maintenance focuses on greasing and checking the individual hydraulic cylinders.

3. What cutting disc options are available? The 24C is compatible with both one-piece and segmented disc styles, allowing you to adapt the teeth (18 in total) to the terrain type and abrasiveness.

4. Is it difficult to adjust the disc bearings?
No, Quadco’s design stands out for having “easily adjustable” disc bearings, facilitating field maintenance tasks.

5. How much does the complete head weigh?
Depending on the chosen rotation, the weight ranges between 3,044 kg and 3,255 kg, requiring a robust and stable base machine.
