Its geometry features an impressive rear knife opening of 850 mm, which greatly facilitates picking up logs from the ground or handling multiple stems at once during processing. This head provides significant extra stability to the base machine.

Feeding and Performance: Maximum Torque While other models prioritize pure speed, the AFM 65 prioritizes unstoppable force. Its system of 4 motors and 3 rollers generates 35 kN of feeding force. This ensures the tree advances regardless of weight, heavy limbing, or bark density. With a speed of 5.5 m/s, it maintains a consistent industrial production rhythm in clearcutting (final felling) operations.

Debarking Specialist and Quality: This model is a benchmark for large-scale eucalyptus debarking. Its knife configuration (adjustable between 2 and 4 units) allows for adaptation to bark hardness, effectively stripping it without damaging the valuable timber. Furthermore, its impressive 860 mm cutting diameter eliminates the need for manual chainsaw operators, even for the thickest specimens in the stand.

1. How does the AFM 65 differ from the AFM 60? The AFM 65 is significantly more powerful and heavier. Weighing 1960 kg versus the AFM 60’s 1500 kg, it offers 35 kN of force compared to 25 kN. The AFM 65 is engineered for thicker, heavier timber where traction is more critical than top speed.

2. Can it debark Eucalyptus? Yes, this is one of its certified operations. Thanks to its massive 35 kN force, it is capable of debarking large-diameter eucalyptus that would stall smaller heads.

3. What excavator size is recommended? Due to its weight of nearly 2 tons, we recommend excavators in the 20 to 25-ton class. Mounting it on lighter machines could compromise stability at maximum boom extension.

4. Is it suitable for thinning? While it can perform late thinnings, its primary vocation is final felling (clearcutting). Its physical size may make maneuvering difficult in very dense, small-diameter forests; for those tasks, the AFM 45 or 55 are better options.

5. What is the advantage of the 850 mm opening? The rear knives open extremely wide (85 cm). This acts almost like a forestry grapple, allowing the operator to easily grip bundles of cut logs for processing or loading.
