Transform your grapple into an industrial cutting station.
The AFM 1000 SC is the ultimate cutting system designed to transform any large forestry grapple into a high-performance saw grapple. Designed for machinery in the 15 to 25-ton range, this equipment (Saw Cassette) couples to your existing grapple, allowing you to cut biomass bundles or giant logs up to 1.5 meters in diameter without changing machines. It is the most cost-effective solution for timber yards and ports requiring simultaneous cutting and loading.
Engineering and Design: Adaptable Power This equipment is a robust saw module designed for installation on grapples with an area greater than 0.3 m². Its modular design allows for rigid or pendulum mounting, adapting perfectly to excavators, log loaders, and port cranes. By integrating the cutting function into the grapple, you eliminate the need for chainsaw operators on the ground, drastically increasing operational safety and speed.
Performance: Mass Bundle Cutting The AFM 1000 SC is in a league of its own thanks to its capacity to mount saw bars from 1000 mm up to 1500 mm. This extra length is key for “Bundle Cutting”: it allows the unit to embrace a huge bundle of eucalyptus or pine and buck it in a single pass. Its load-sensing hydraulic system automatically adjusts bar pressure, preventing jamming even when cutting very hard wood or dense bundles.
Operability: Smart Logistics It is the preferred tool in sawmills and biomass plants for sorting and in-feed operations. It allows for butt trimming directly on the truck or cutting wood to size before it enters the chipper, optimizing the entire logistics chain with a single machine. It uses a .3/4″ pitch chain, designed to withstand harsh industrial treatment.

FAQ – AFM 1000 SC
1. Does the AFM 1000 SC include the yellow grapple? The base product is the Saw Cassette. We can supply just the cassette for you to install on your current grapple, or we can offer the complete package (Grapple + Saw) ready to work.
2. What is the advantage of a saw grapple over a harvesting head? It is much more cost-effective and specific to logistics. If your work is primarily loading and sorting timber (in a yard, port, or onto a truck) and you only need to make occasional cuts or buck bundles, this solution is faster and more efficient than a complex harvesting head.
3. Why is the 1.5-meter bar so important? Because it enables bundle cutting. In biomass operations, cutting logs one by one is slow. With a 1.5-meter bar, you can grab 10 or 15 thin stems and cut them all at once, multiplying your production.
4. Can it be mounted on any excavator? It is ideal for machines in the 15 to 25-ton range. The critical factor is that the excavator must have sufficient hydraulic flow (minimum 150 l/min) to drive the saw with force.
5. What is the maintenance like? The system is extremely robust. It features manual or hydraulic chain tensioning and automatic lubrication. By using a .3/4″ chain, sharpening lasts longer than on standard forestry chains (.404″), making it ideal for dirty environments like timber yards.
